Jazz MPA Debrief
Congratulations to the Umatilla Middle School Jazz Band for receiving Straight Excellents at the Jazz Music Performance Assessment! This is one of the highest ratings you can receive at the event! I do have a professional recording of the event, and I will email that out to all parents in case your child is interested in watching the videos! Special shoutout to the chaperones for helping us get the students to and from the school.
Also, congratulations to the Umatilla High School Swinging Bulldogs on their Straight Superiors! This is the highest rating you can receive at this event!
After School Rehearsals
The Weekly Schedule is the following:
Mondays (Jan 13 - Feb 10): Jazz Band 4:15 - 5:30 PM
Wednesdays (Jan 15 - Feb 26): Symphonic Band 3:15 - 4:30 PM
THESE REHEARSALS ARE A GRADE!!!!
Rehearsals after school are essential for these next couple of weeks. Students will be performing at the Music Performance Assessment (MPA) next month, which is one of our biggest performances of the school year. It is the music equivalent of a general education class's state test.
If a student needs to miss a rehearsal, they must talk to me, and I must have parent contact. This is so that there is adult communication on the situation. Yes, there are make-up assignments, however, without your student, the whole band falls behind and can lose progress. So, it is important to have all students there.
Students will have to record a section of their music that we worked on in the rehearsal if they need to make up the rehearsal. Please see this on Google Classroom.
Things To Come!
Concert MPA
I will be sending all Symphonic Band parents and students an email of the updated schedule for Concert Band Music Performance Assessment. I will also send an email out to all parents that will be chaperoning.
Just like Jazz MPA, Concert MPA is MANDATORY for all Symphonic Band members. This is the LARGEST performance that we do this school year and it is extremely important to attend.
Pass-Off Performances
Here are some performances coming up that you can attend and receive a pass-off credit! Remember, you need 7 pass-offs per quarter.
Friday, February 21: Stetson University Symphonic Band Concert - 7:30 PM in Lee Chapel, Elizabeth Hall; Stetson University
Saturday, February 22: Guest Recital at Stetson - Nicolas Prost, Saxophone - 7:30 PM in Lee Chapel, Elizabeth Hall; Stetson University
