Monday, January 20: Martin Luther King Jr Day (No School)
Wednesday, January 22: Guest Clinician - Joey Powell
Wednesday, January 22: Symphonic Band Rehearsal, 3:15-4:30 PM
Thursday, January 23: All-District Band Rehearsal 6-9 PM (no after school open practice)
Friday, January 24: All-District Band Rehearsal, 9 AM-4 PM (Pyburn Out)
Saturday, January 25: All-District Band Concert, 3 PM @ The Villages Charter HS (Come support Drew Ashcraft on Baritone and David Rogers on Percussion!)
After School Rehearsals
The Weekly Schedule is the following:
Mondays (Jan 13 - Feb 10): Jazz Band 4:15 - 5:30 PM
Wednesdays (Jan 15 - Feb 26): Symphonic Band 3:15 - 4:30 PM
THESE REHEARSALS ARE A GRADE!!!!
Rehearsals after school are essential for these next couple of weeks. Students will be performing at the Music Performance Assessment (MPA) next month, which is one of our biggest performances of the school year. It is the music equivalent of a general education class's state test.
If a student needs to miss a rehearsal, they must talk to me, and I must have parent contact. This is so that there is adult communication on the situation. Yes, there are make-up assignments, however, without your student, the whole band falls behind and can lose progress. So, it is important to have all students there.
Students will have to record a section of their music that we worked on in the rehearsal if they need to make up the rehearsal.
All-District Band
Congratulations to Drew Ashcraft (Baritone) and David Rogers (Percussion) for making it into the All-District Band! They have the opportunity to rehearse with an amazing conductor and teacher and play alongside students across Lake, Sumter, and Marion Counties! STUDENTS! You will receive a pass-off if you go to the concert! Either come find me or take a photo to prove you were there.
On Friday I will be gone all day due to All-District Band. Please be on your best behavior for the substitute.
Solo & Ensemble
I will be sending another email about Solo & Ensemble very soon, but I just wanted to inform all parents: if your student is doing a solo, they must pay the accompanist $40 (this covers a rehearsal and the performance) BEFORE they rehearse with them. If there is any issue financially about this, please let me know.
I have a list of students going in February and I am currently working on a piano rehearsal date with my accompanists. It will probably be either on a Friday afternoon or a weekend.
